The 8th Interdisciplinary Workshop on Rockfall Protection aims to bring together academics, researchers, managers and engineers to share recent findings and improvements, new methods and practical experiences in mitigating rockfall disasters.
The workshop will focus on rockfall protection structures, including nature-based solutions, in terms of design, efficiency improvement, new solutions, study cases, etc. Various key topics related to rockfall protection will also be addressed, among which:
Mitigation strategy: from risk analysis to structure design
Initiation and propagation hazard assessment
Environmental impact
Structure construction and maintenance costs.

Rocexs ?
The Rockfall Expert Network (RocExs.net) is a forum of international rockfall scientists & practitioners who meet during Interdisciplinary workshop on Rockfall Protection. Previous editions of Rocexs workshop were held in Japan (1999), France (2005), Switzerlad (2008), Austria (2011), Italy (2014), Spain (2017) and Japan (2022).
Organisation main lines
The workshop will last three days, from 7 to 9 July 2026. It will take place on the campus site of the University of Grenoble, France, a city surrounded by mountains and offering a wide range of accommodations.
The workshop will include an excursion on the afternoon of the last day.
The building hosting Rocexs is easy to get to, and particularly close to public transport and benefits from a large amphiteatre where presentations will be given.
